The #TRUEMINDED brand is inspired by the Jalyn`s twin brother, the late James "Jay" Powell Jr who lived every day in his truth. Jay would live life with no regrets. Jay would speak whatever was on his mind without the slightest worry about what others would think about him. Jalyn admired how bold and confident he was. She would later discover this boldness would aid her in fighting the Mental Health Stigma across the state.. 

 

Jalyn went on a mission  to combat stigma associated with mental challenges by educating herself and community on the effects these challenges have, key identifiers of someone who may have a challenge and not know, triggers, how to develop positive coping plans and how to be an effective support system of someone with a challenge.

It is so important to be truthful with yourself and those around you when you are facing challenges so that we can push through together.

Mental Health is IMPORTANT! We go extra measures to enforce this message in minority communities. While #AllMindsMatter, studies show that African Americans are less likely to receive proper diagnosis and that they are less likely seek help. #TRUEMINDED is a universal design that will encourage everyone to take their mental wellness just as serious as their physical wellness and live in their truth no matter what it looks or feels like in that moment!
