Meet Jalyn!
Empowerment through action.
Jalyn Powell is a community advocate and leader. She was born and raised in Sussex County, Delaware where she attended and graduated from Milford Senior High School with honors. Jalyn went on to pursue her Bachelor of arts in Political Science at Delaware State University. Jalyn was recognized in 2017 with DSU`s George Washington Leadership Award for her community outreach contributions and stellar performance within their Political Science Department. Jalyn graduated with a Master of Arts in Law with a concentration in Human Rights and Rule of Law in May of 2020 from Regent University School of Law. Jalyn is now pursuing her PhD. in Transformative Social Change at Saybrook University.
Jalyn’s interest and work in the social justice field has awarded her countless opportunities to use her voice! Jalyn served as the lead organizer of the "Walk of Change" movement which consists of a peaceful demonstrations marched in silence. The Walk of Change demonstration held in Milford, Delaware brought hundreds of people together to demand Racial Equity and Social Justice in lieu of the rising public displays of police brutality. Jalyn spoke to a crowd of over 1,000 locals and elected officials for the March For Our Lives Movement in 2018. Jalyn had the honor of serving under United State`s Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester and United State`s Senator Tom Carper as an office intern.
Jalyn`s passion for advocacy and love for the youth has landed her various roles within the community. Ultimately, she was inspired her to birth her own business servicing youth and young adults, OUTLOUD LLC.
#OutLoud is a lifestyle and it has to be intentional. It comes with self-awareness, acceptance, accountability and intentional growth. Jalyn actively works on practicing and teaching those same principles. Hence her famous quote,
"It`s always a GREAT DAY to have a great day ON PURPOSE!"
